Intensive Outpatient Program for Adults

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a structured level of care for adults living with Substance Use Disorders (SUD) who need consistent therapeutic support but do not require 24-hour supervision. IOP provides a combination of group therapy, individual counseling, psychoeducation, and skill-building sessions several times per week. This level of care allows individuals to receive meaningful treatment while continuing to live at home, work, and maintain daily responsibilities. Medication‑Assisted Treatment (MAT) services are also offered as clinically necessary, providing additional support for individuals who may benefit from medication alongside therapy.

Who is it for?

IOP is designed for adults who:

  • Are struggling with substance use and need more support than traditional weekly therapy.

  • Are stepping down from inpatient or residential treatment and want continued care.

  • Are motivated to engage in recovery while maintaining work, school, or family responsibilities.

  • May be at risk of relapse and benefit from structured support and accountability.

  • Need a supportive environment to build coping skills and maintain sobriety.

  • Face barriers to accessing treatment such as transportation challenges, childcare needs, work schedules, or other day-to-day responsibilities that can make attending traditional (in-person) services difficult.

Key Benefits

  • Structured Support: Regular sessions provide consistency and accountability in recovery

  • Real-Life Integration: Clients can immediately apply coping skills in their daily lives
